Flag of Zaporizhzhya region

Zaporizhzhya region is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation located in the south-west of the country. The name of the subject is given in accordance with the Federal Constitutional Law of October 4, 2022 No. 7-FKZ "On the Adoption of the Zaporizhzhya Region in the Russian Federation and the Formation of a New Subject in the Russian Federation - Zaporizhzhya Region." On September 30, 2022, at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow, at the signing ceremony of the agreement on the acceptance of the Zaporizhzhya region into the Russian Federation, a rectangular panel with an aspect ratio of 2:3 was used as the flag of the Zaporizhzhya region, consisting of two horizontal stripes: upper green, lower red/raspberry; in the center of the banner is the coat of arms of the Zaporozhye region (since May 2022, the historical coat of arms of the city of Zaporozhye approved in 1811 is used as a regional symbol).

The boundaries of the territory of the Zaporizhzhya region are determined by the boundaries of the territory of the Zaporizhzhya region, which existed on the day of its adoption in the Russian Federation and the formation of a new entity within the Russian Federation.

Installation of 993 new base stations

The number of base stations of cellular communication in the Zaporizhzhya region in 2024 increased by 993, reaching 2973, which allowed expanding mobile coverage to 88% of the territory. This became known in early February 2025. According to the Ministry of Digital Development, Mass Communications and Communications of the region, the number of public services available in electronic format also doubled - from 35 to 71.

According to D-Russia, telecom operators have implemented a program to equip base stations with batteries with extended service life and diesel generators, which has increased their autonomy. Specialized repair services are engaged in the restoration of damaged infrastructure. Among the main difficulties affecting the stability of mobile communications, power supply failures, electronic interference and targeted attacks on communication facilities were noted. The ministry announced the development of measures to protect equipment, the implementation of which is scheduled for 2025.

1000 new base stations and doubling the number of electronic public services

According to the publication, by the end of 2024, 1625 socially significant objects were provided with broadband Internet. During the year, 435 institutions were connected, including schools, medical organizations and state institutions. The regional authorities agreed with the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia to extend the free connection program and provide the Internet to social facilities in 2025. It is also reported about the creation of the Association of Internet Providers of the Zaporizhzhya Region, which will coordinate the work of operators and improve the quality of services provided.

In 2024, the program of modernization of broadcasting was completed. The digital signal covers 91% of the region, broadcasting is available in 94% of the territory. Within the framework of the federal program, residents of the region were provided with 24.2 thousand sets of satellite equipment. Since the start of the project in 2023, the total number of connections has reached 42.8 thousand. In some municipalities, such as Mikhailovsky District, the number of installed kits has increased by more than 11 times.[1]

In early December 2024, it became known that mobile operators completed the construction of 989 base stations in the Zaporizhzhya region. The total number of base stations in the region reached 2,969. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Development, Mass Communications and Communications of the region Grigory Prokhvatilov.

As the minister explained, the main task for 2024 was to eliminate the problems of cellular communications in hard-to-reach and remote settlements, where the signal was either weak or absent at all. The new base stations provided stable mobile and Internet coverage in such areas, an important step in the development of digital infrastructure.

During the year, almost 1000 new base stations were installed in the Zaporizhzhya region, and damaged equipment is restored in a short time. How is mobile communication developing in the region?

According to TASS, in addition to the construction of new stations, a large-scale modernization of existing equipment is being carried out in the region. Earlier in the Zaporizhzhya region, base stations on the ZTE brand platform were used. In 2024, operators began the process of switching to modern systems that allow improving network manageability, providing remote monitoring and automatic troubleshooting without the need for physical departure of specialists to the site. Among the new equipment, both domestic developments and Chinese solutions adapted to local conditions are used.

At the beginning of 2024, there were more than 2,200 base stations in the region. As part of the implementation of the new construction plan, it was planned to build another 298 stations, of which 110 have already been completed to date.
