In early December 2024, it became known that mobile operators completed the construction of 989 base stations in the Zaporizhzhya region. The total number of base stations in the region reached 2,969. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Development, Mass Communications and Communications of the region Grigory Prokhvatilov.
As the minister explained, the main task for 2024 was to eliminate the problems of cellular communications in hard-to-reach and remote settlements, where the signal was either weak or absent at all. The new base stations provided stable mobile and Internet coverage in such areas, an important step in the development of digital infrastructure.
According to TASS, in addition to the construction of new stations, a large-scale modernization of existing equipment is being carried out in the region. Earlier in the Zaporizhzhya region, base stations on the ZTE brand platform were used. In 2024, operators began the process of switching to modern systems that allow improving network manageability, providing remote monitoring and automatic troubleshooting without the need for physical departure of specialists to the site. Among the new equipment, both domestic developments and Chinese solutions adapted to local conditions are used.
Modernization allows you to automatically rebuild the network if necessary, which is especially important for ensuring the reliability of communication in conditions of complex logistics in the region, - said Grigory Prokhvatilov. |
At the beginning of 2024, there were more than 2,200 base stations in the region.
