2019

Closing of the transaction of OTP Bank Plc. - Mobiasbanca

On July 30, 2019 it became known that OTP Bank (Hungary) announced financial closure of the transaction on acquisition of bank in the Republic of Moldova. As a result of the transaction OTP Bank became the 96.69% owner of Mobiasbanca — Groupe Societe Generale S.A. (MBSG), Societe Generale Group affiliated enterprise in Moldova.

As noted, the share of MBSG in the banking market of the country makes nearly 14%, the bank is the fourth in value credit institution in Moldova. Mobiasbanca is universal bank and works as in retail, and corporate segments.

As of July, 2019 the OTP group is present at 11 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, every year strengthening the positions and becoming more and more significant market player.[1]

Purchase of a majority stake of actions by the Hungarian OTP Bank Plc.

On February 8, 2019 vengerskiyotr Bank Plc. announced agreement signature about purchase of a majority stake of stocks of Mobiasbanca – Groupe Societe Generale, Moldavian "subsidiary" of Societe Generale Group.

As of February, 2019 Mobiasbanca is the fourth in value bank in the market of Moldova from shares of 13.3%. It is universal bank which actively works in retail and corporate segments.

OTP Group is present at 9 countries of the region, but it is expected that this digit will increase up to 11 countries thanks to recently signed agreement in Moldova and to financial closure of the Albanian agreement. Financial finalization of the Moldavian transaction is expected in the coming months on condition of obtaining all necessary regulatory permissions.

Besides, OTP Group and Societe Generale Group signed the agreement on cooperation, mainly — for support of services of the international companies in such key spheres as the international cash management and the capital markets, structuring finance and management of investment banking services. Thus, two banking groups intend to support and provide high-quality services in these areas to the international companies of member countries of group.

As it is specified, for February 8 Hungary is already a part of the agreement on cooperation, Bulgaria and Croatia will soon join. Albania, Serbia and Moldova will become a part after closing of transactions.[2]

2016

For March, 2016 Mobiasbanca is one of the first commercial banks of Moldova and also the member of Banking association of Moldova. At the same time, Mobiasbanca is the first and only bank in Moldova having the certificate of ISO 9001:2008 in the field of quality. A major shareholder of CB Mobiasbanca-Groupe Société Générale is the Société Générale group, one of the largest banking groups in Europe.

For March, 2016 the bank services about 120 thousand clients of the corporate sector, the enterprises of small and medium business and private clients.

Clients "Mobiasbanca – Groupe Société Générale" S.A. had in the spring of 2016 an opportunity to perform instant unaddressed money transfers "Zolotaya Korona" to the CIS countries and foreign countries on profitable rates — from 1% (depending on the amount and the direction of transaction). Besides, in bank the special offer — "The Rate of 0%" works: when sending currency transfer with converting at the rate of service, the service commission is absent. Available transfer currencies: the Russian rubles, dollars USA and euro.

1990: Background

By CB Mobiasbanca-Groupe Société Générale S.A. it is founded in 1990, is one of the first commercial banks of Moldova. A major shareholder of CB Mobiasbanca-Groupe Société Générale is the Société Générale group, one of the largest banking groups in Europe.
