2023: Discounter Network Launch

In August 2023, Detsky Mir launched a network of discounters with goods up to 99 rubles. New stores began work in Moscow and Dzerzhinsk. There are dishes, toys, clothes, stationery, etc.

The Detsky Mir group announced in mid-August 2023 that they plan to open three more stores in Moscow in the near future. Also discounters "More" will appear in Mytishchi, the urban district of Solnechnogorsk, Yaroslavl, Rzhev, Nizhny Novgorod, Murom and Pavlovo. Their range will consist of more than 4,000 items such as utensils and stationery.

The publication Retail.ru reported on August 16, 2023 that at least three More stores will appear in the capital in the near future. The next point should open in Butovo, the portal adds.

The general director of the Infoline agency, Ivan Fedyakov, considers the Detsky Mir project "quite interesting." It comes into direct competition with those already operating on the market, and the retailer, the expert noted.

For the successful implementation of the strategy, Detsky Mir has the necessary components. He is actively developing his own trademarks, and these products are likely to be the basis for the "More" discounter, he believes.

The rest of the companies also follow the path of discounters, so they will most likely have to abandon other familiar store formats, says Andrei Karpov, chairman of the board of the Association of Retail Market Experts.

We see, for example, that development has slowed down, the opening of new hypermarket formats. Supermarkets are opening less actively, too. Retail chains that have near-home stores such as Pyaterochka and Magnit also have tough discounters, he said.[1]
