The system is designed to significantly reduce the handling time.
In theAlexei Semenkov, head of the oncological department of surgical methods of treatment at MONICA, explained that traditionally a puncture is performed manually by a surgeon using ultrasound control. The new technique allows the robot-assisted insertion of the needle with its automatic positioning, which significantly increases the level of safety of the procedure by monitoring the accuracy of insertion of the needle into the studied area.
CT monitoring of needle travel provides more accurate visualization of dangerous structures in the plane of its introduction. In addition, high image quality makes it possible to manipulate smaller formations, which expands the diagnostic capabilities of the method.
