Moscow State Pedagogical University is a Russian educational and scientific institution, which includes 11 institutes, 4 faculties and branches as of July 2018 (with the accession of Moscow State University named after M.A. Sholokhov in 2015, the number of branches increased to 9). It was founded in 1872.
The abbreviated name is Moscow State Pedagogical University, the full official name is the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "Moscow Pedagogical State University."
By the decree of the President of Russia, dated February 2, 2009, the university is included in the State Code of Especially Valuable Objects of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of the Russian Federation.

As of November 2011, Moscow State Pedagogical University (MPSU) is the leader of pedagogical education, which is confirmed by the rating of the Ministry of Education for a group of pedagogical and linguistic universities. 18 teaching faculties of the university train teachers of primary and secondary schools, organizers-methodologists of preschool education, teachers of secondary and higher professional educational institutions, psychologists, defectologists, sociologists, managers, lawyers, journalists. As of November 2011, more than 14 thousand students study at the university.
