About the enterprise
State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans is the main operator of the ground urban passenger transport system in the capital and the largest in Europe
Activity
More than 5.5 million people use the services of urban ground public transport of the capital daily on working days, which is approximately 35 percent of the total passenger traffic carried out in the city by public transport.
On working days, 7110 units of rolling stock of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans, including 5100 buses, 1310 trolleybuses and 700 trams, take to the streets of Moscow.
The technical park of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans is constantly being updated: rolling stock is being purchased, adapted for the elderly, disabled and other people with limited mobility. The new rolling stock has a low floor level, is equipped with a cabin air conditioning system, is equipped with video surveillance and satellite navigation systems.
The company serves 766 routes, of which 636 are bus, 89 trolleybus and 41 tram. The total length of the route network is 7862.6 km.
Branches
The structure of the enterprise includes 47 branches, including 5 tram depots, 7 trolleybus fleets, 19 bus fleets and the Filevsky bus and trolleybus fleet, as well as services that ensure the operation of ground-based urban passenger transport.
Transportation organization
State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans operates 766 routes of land-based urban passenger transport, including 636 bus routes, 89 trolleybus routes, 41 tram routes.
The route network of the city is constantly being adjusted: new routes are opening, mainly to serve new areas of mass residential development, existing ones are changing.
Decisions on changes in the route network are made on the basis of studying passenger traffic and passenger requests.
So, for example, in 2011, 13 new routes were organized, 25 existing routes were changed, 1 was canceled.
Performance indicators
2022: 5x loss growth
Net losses of Mosgortrans at the end of 2021 reached 16.9 billion rubles, which is 5.1 times more than cash losses a year ago. Such data were released in May 2022.
The press service of Mosgortrans explained to TASS that the loss is mainly "paper" in nature and is associated with an increase in infrastructure.
In Mosgortrans, property from economic management has decreased - the tram infrastructure and related property have been transferred to the Moscow Metro State Unitary Enterprise. This does not affect the solvency of enterprises, since it includes the amount of accrued depreciation taken into account in the report on the financial results of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans, the press service said. |
The company added that the actual values of the indicators are within the values agreed by the executive authorities of Moscow and allow enterprises to fulfill all their obligations.
The profitability of urban transport is not a goal, the press service of the Moscow Department of Transport concludes.
Our main task is to ensure the comfort of passengers, to save jobs. Now [by May 2022] more than 100 thousand people work in the metro and Mosgortrans, and there are plans to increase the staff, they added. |
In 2021, the passenger traffic of Mosgortrans amounted to more than 750 million people, which is 8% more than a year earlier. Evgeny Alekseev, Deputy Director for Urban Transport Development at the Center for Infrastructure Economics (CEI), believes that one of the reasons for the growth in Mosgortrans losses may be associated with the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
And about. Galina Sorokina, director of the Institute of Economics and Finance of the State University of Management, in a conversation with RBC, drew attention to a fairly "inflated management system" and "not entirely transparent financial flows."[1]
History
2025: Introduction of AI systems for automatic assignment of drivers to routes
Moscow City Transport (Mosgortrans) has introduced a new system for automatically assigning drivers to routes using artificial intelligence. Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov in mid-February 2025 said that about 30% of drivers are already working under the new system.
The system was put into operation at eight Mosgortrans sites serving more than 200 ground transport routes.
The new AI system automates key processes in public transport management, ensuring optimal resource allocation. It allows you to effectively select work shifts for drivers, taking into account the established rest time. The system analyzes passenger traffic, which contributes to the uniform distribution of buses and electric buses along the routes. An algorithm has also been introduced that guarantees equal conditions when forming shifts for the entire driver's staff.
The introduction of an automated system made it possible to halve the burden on employees involved in planning the release of transport on the line. Artificial intelligence takes into account many factors when drawing up work schedules.
Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, stressed that the new service ensures an even distribution of the load on drivers and vehicles, which contributes to improving the quality of passenger service.
The system analyzes the workload of passenger traffic on various routes and optimizes the distribution of vehicles in accordance with real needs. This makes it possible to use the existing fleet of buses and electric buses more efficiently.
The new system creates more comfortable working conditions for drivers by optimally planning working hours and evenly distributing the load between employees.[2]
2021: Mosgortrans user data stolen and made publicly available
In October 2021, it became known that the data of Mosgortrans users were stolen and made publicly available. It is believed that the leak occurred on the company's website.
The fact that Mosgortrans stole user data, including names, phone numbers and email addresses, was the first to be reported by the Information Leaks Telegram channel. According to him, the hacker posted the data in the public domain, saying that they were taken from the site mosgortrans.ru. In total, he posted 13 text files. Among them is a table of 149 lines.
A representative of Kaspersky Lab confirmed to the publication that the archive with leaked files was discovered by company employees on one of the hacker forums. There are both configuration files (group, hosts, motd, my.cnf, networks, passwd, protocols, services, sshd_config), and files that probably contain data on users of the Mosgortrans website - mails.txt, mostrans_admins.txt, Names.txt, phones.txt.
As the newspaper notes, on the Mosgortrans website there is no way to create a personal account where users can specify personal data, but there is a feedback form through which you can send an appeal. It is mandatory to indicate the name, first name and patronymic of the applicant, as well as e-mail. The phone number is indicated as desired.
Telegram channel "Information Leaks" published a screenshot with fragments of the stolen database. Some e-mail addresses have the domain name mosgortrans, which may indicate that they belong to employees of the enterprise.
At the same time, Mosgortrans denies the leakage of personal data and stated the following:
This is the standard contact information of employees, which is available in any bus fleet, branch and office. In fact, this is a telephone book, and very irrelevant, most of the information is outdated.[3] |
2017: Purchase of the first 300 electric buses
At the end of 2017, the authorities Moscow represented by the State Unitary Enterprise "" Mosgortrans officially relied on the development of electric public: transport a tender was announced for the supply of 300 electric buses (with service for 15 years) and charging systems for them. According to the deputy mayor for transport, Maxim Liksutov a total of three auctions of 100 cars will take place (with a starting price of 10.5 billion rubles each). Manufacturers are also required to supply 98 ultra-fast charging stations. And this is just the beginning: it is planned to purchase 300 cars a year annually, and from 2021 Moscow only electric buses will begin to be purchased. The capital is already refusing traditional trolleybuses: in the city center they are removed from the routes[4]
The Ministry of Industry and Trade supported the idea of Moscow and will continue to subsidize manufacturers of electric transport (in 2018, 1.5 billion rubles were allocated for this, in 2017 - 900 million rubles). According to the ministry, the development of the segment is provided for in the draft strategy of the automotive industry until 2025 (still not adopted). A "national consortium" for electric transport has been created, it includes KamAZ, Sollers and FSUE NAMI.
The Ministry of Transport adds that they have developed a draft strategy for the development of automobile and urban electric transport until 2030, it was discussed with specialized associations and was generally approved by the industry coordination council at the end of 2016. But, the ministry clarifies, the regions "themselves determine the directions of development of various types of passenger transport." In Tula, for example, some trolleybuses already have a long autonomous travel, they travel more than 100 km a day in electric bus mode. There are electric buses in Novosibirsk, other regions also express interest in them, the Ministry of Transport notes.
2001-2007
In 2002, Pavel Zlatin was appointed General Director of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans, in 2004 - Viktor Prokhorov, in 2006 - Peter Ivanov.
In 2007, the Zelenograd Automobile Plant became part of the Mosgortrans State Unitary Enterprise; MosgortransNIIproekt is separated into a separate enterprise.
By the Decree of the Government of Moscow dated November 21, 2001 No. 928, the state company Mosgortrans was renamed the state unitary enterprise Mosgortrans with the transformation of individual units. Operating and repair enterprises, services and other divisions received the name "subsidiary state unitary enterprise" (DGUP). Soon, DGUPs were transformed into branches of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans.
1958-1994
The history of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans begins on July 31, 1958. On this day, by the decision of the Moscow City Executive Committee, the Passenger Administration transport Moscow (UPPM) was formed through the merger of the Tram and Trolleybus Administration and the Passenger Transport Administration.
Thus, all three main types of ground mass public shuttle transport in Moscow - bus, trolleybus, tram - were organizationally combined into a single production and technological complex.
The newly formed transport enterprise, the heir to which is the current state unitary enterprise Mosgortrans, has become the largest operator of urban passenger traffic in Russia.
The annual volume of UPTM traffic in 1960 amounted to 2 billion 669 million passengers (72.6% of the total volume carried out by all types of transport in the city), the fleet of vehicles totaled 5,800 units (1,776 tram cars, 1,360 trolleybuses and 2,665 buses).
At the time of its formation, the UPTM included 8 tram depots, 4 trolleybus and 7 bus fleets, the Track Service, the Traffic Service, the Traction Substation Service, 4 repair plants (SVARZ, the Trolleybus Repair Plant, the Electromechanical Tool Plant, the Termito-Switch Plant) and other units.
During 1990-2008. in the structure of Mosgortrans, changes took place several times. Since October 1, 1991, MMPO Mosgortrans was transformed into the Committee of Passenger Transport of Moscow, to which minibus taxi transport (minibuses) was transferred. Alexander Ulyanov was appointed chairman of the committee.
On February 10, 1992, the Passenger Transport Committee was liquidated, the passenger vehicle company was removed from its composition and the Mosgortrans municipal company was formed on the basis of the committee, the president of which was also appointed A. Ulyanova.
On February 14, 1994, MK Mosgortrans was renamed the state-owned Mosgortrans company, which included 62 enterprises.
