2025: Okto Group bought Novo-Shirokinsky mine

In December 2025, the Okto group of companies announced the acquisition of gold mining assets in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Trans-Baikal Territory. The transaction includes a full buyback of shares of Novo-Shirokinsky Mine JSC from the Range Group, as well as the assets of the East European Mining Company (VEDK), which operates at fields in the Oymyakonsky ulus of Yakutia. To finance the operation, the group attracts a loan from Promsvyazbank in the amount of more than 50 billion rubles.

According to the statement of the chairman of the board of directors of Okto Group Alexei Tolokonnikov, a development strategy has already been developed for new assets. According to him, it provides for large-scale geological exploration, as well as the modernization of existing and the construction of additional production facilities. The acquisition of a mine in Transbaikalia and projects in Yakutia is the group's second contribution to large industrial assets in the region after the Badran field.

According to Interfax, Okto plans to restore the work of the Hangalassky ore node, where mining has not been carried out for a long time. At the first stage, the group intends to reach an annual production volume of about 1 ton of gold, with a subsequent increase to 2 tons. In parallel, the development of the Bazovsky gold ore deposit will begin with a target of 1.5-2 tons per year.

The Novo-Shirokinskoye deposit, discovered in 1957, is one of the largest in the Trans-Baikal Territory and contains not only gold, but also polymetals - lead and zinc.

The Okto Group, founded in 2021, is consistently expanding its presence in the gold mining industry in Siberia and the Far East. According to Interfax, in 2024, together with partners, the company acquired ZDK Lenzoloto from Polyus, and in the spring of 2025, Zapadnaya GC. In August 2025, the Hort-V asset, which owns a license for the Ukonikskoye field, was purchased through the Zapadnaya GRK.[1]
