2025: Staff tied the girl up with wool tights and she lost the hands of both hands
In October 2025, in Moscow, a 20-year-old patient with mental disorders from the Obruchevsky social service house (an institution subordinate to the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Moscow) had their hands amputated. The reason for the operation was the development of gangrene, which occurred after the employees of the institution tightly tied her hands with woolen tights.
This became known to the publication MSK1 from the former employee of the institution Anton Cheltsov. On October 14, 2025, the head nurse of the boarding school discovered a related patient, and the attending physician noted gangrene of the hands. On the same day, the girl was taken to the City Clinical Hospital No. 67 named after L. A. Vorokhobov. As a result of surgery, the girl lost both hands.
In the| The negligence shown by employees led to serious consequences for the resident and is absolutely unacceptable. |
According to the MSK1 agency, as a result of the incident, the head of the medical service, the head of the department and the senior nurse of the institution were dismissed. The boarding school conducted an unscheduled inspection of all departments with an audit of medical appointments. For nursing staff and care staff, they organized additional training on dealing with "severe" patients.
| Such indifference is unacceptable: at least this is a reason for immediate resignation, and at most - for a criminal investigation. |
The editors of the MSK1 agency sent official requests to the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Moscow Prosecutor's Office to obtain a legal assessment of the incident. The Moscow prosecutor's office declined to comment on the case. From the Investigative Committee as of November 10, 2025, there were also no explanations in connection with the incident.[1][2]
