2020: Intuitive Surgical purchased Orpheus Medical startup

In the middle of February, 2020 Intuitive Surgical announced acquisition of a startup of Orpheus Medical. Financial terms of transaction are not disclosed.

Intuitive Surgical uses the status of the pioneer in the market of robotic surgery long ago, but in the next several years such giants of the medical industry as Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic will get into this sphere, and the company already prepares for the cruel competition. One of solutions includes use of the innovation tools provided by other startups, including Orpheus.

Clinical platforms for management and the analysis of video which are provided by Orpheus startup should provide processing, distribution and archiving of surgical images and video of different types of procedures. In general they are designed to help the surgical team working with robotic da Vinci devices as much as possible to optimize procedures.

Orpheus technologies allow to write the course of transaction with the help of the da Vinci robot and to broadcast it to other interested participants, to carry out teleconferences and also to store this content and to share it using electronic storage system of medical records. This technology can be used in cases of laparoscopic transactions, plastic surgery, ophthalmologic and dermatological procedures and also for documentation, the analysis of complications and the daily expert overview.^[1]
