Pevek (chuk. "Pagyt-canay") is a city in the Far East of Russia, the administrative center of the urban district of PevekChukotka Autonomous Okrug. It is the northernmost city in Russia. History
2015: Reorganization into Pevek Urban District

1949
On December 14, 1949, by decision No. 788 of the executive committee of the Khabarovsk Regional Council of Workers' Deputies, the village of Pevek, Chaunsky District, Chukotka National District, Kamchatka Region, Khabarovsk Territory, was classified as a working settlement and the village Council was formed.
1933: Creation of Chaunsky district
