Quantum communications
The Neotekh company redeemed in September, 2016 a share in the Quantum Communications project on development of quantum Internet networks in which scientists of the ITMO university in St. Petersburg are engaged. Contract amount was $500 thousand, and this case became the first in Russia when the venture investor purchased a part of the small investment enterprise of university, Izvestia[1] writes [2]
According to the edition, Neotekh invested in purchase because of high interest in the project from potential customers. Now also the transaction for $3 million for reaching the international level is structured.
Kvantovye kommunikatsii LLC is MIP of the ITMO University created based on the quantum center of department of photonics and optoinformation science. The project is engaged in developments of technologies of quantum communications for the protected data transmission. In August, 2016 the company announced the first pilot project in Tatarstan — multinodal quantum network which will allow to provide the highest level of data protection, transferred in optical networks of communication (mobile communication, the Internet). The physical properties of photons which do not allow "listen" to the data transferred on network are the cornerstone of quantum enciphering.
— The product is at high readiness therefore we decided to invest. We already have technical requirements of customers, in Russia interest was shown by telecom operators and a public sector, and abroad — banking sector, discuss projects with banks of Austria and Germany now — the CEO of Neotekh company Sergey Hmelevsky tells. — Now we structure the transaction for $3 million with co-investors for an exit to international market and creations of production, we discuss both with private Russian investors, and with the state institutes of development.
