Quill is a messaging service. The launch of the platform took place in February 2021, the developers then announced it as a "messenger for concentrated people." Quill was founded by Ludwig Pettersson, a former creative director of the payment processing platform Stripe.

2021: Twitter bought Quill
On December 7, 2021, Twitter announced the acquisition of Quill. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. It is assumed that this purchase will help the social network improve its own messaging tools.
Slack, owned by the company, Salesforce has become a common workplace messaging tool used by many companies. In 2021, Quill appeared as a possible competitor. After closing the sale deal startup , the Quill team will join Experience, a unit Twitter to work on instant messengers, in particular on direct messages from the social network, by the end of 2021.
The purchase of Quill may be associated with a new Twitter strategy aimed at reducing dependence on advertising revenue and attracting paid subscribers. Twitter Technology Director Nick Caldwell described Quill as a more recent and thoughtful way to communicate. According to him, Twitter attracts their experience and creativity, as the company is working to make messaging tools a more useful way to communicate.
Quill users have time until December 11, 2021 to export their team's message history before servers are completely shut down at 1:00 PM Pacific Time. The announcement contains instructions for users who want to import their chat history into Slack, Quill also noted that all active teams will be paid full compensation.[1]
