The Russian University of Transport (RUTH (MIIT)) is one of the oldest technical universities in Russia, founded in 1896, trains specialists for railway transport and other sectors of the national economy in 60 specialties.
History
2024: Joint training project with BI.Zone
BI.ZONE specialists will share their experience with students of the Russian University of Transport (MIIT), and will also help them master the tools to automate the implementation of cybersecurity legislation. BI.Zone announced this on April 17, 2024.
Russian organizations are in dire need of qualified cybersecurity specialists. It is important for such professionals not only to have the skills to counter cyber threats, but also to know the legislation in this area well. Compliance helps minimize the risk of data breaches and financial and reputational losses.
BI.ZONE and the Department of Information Management and Protection of the Institute of Transport Technology and Management Systems of the RUT launched a joint project in which BI.ZONE Consulting experts will share practical experience with students at lectures and conferences.
Students will also take part in master classes where they will master process automation tools in accordance with mandatory requirements in the field of personal data protection (PD), critical information infrastructure (CII) and state information systems (GIS).
The training will be carried out using the BI.Zone Compliance Platform, a platform for automating cybersecurity processes and fulfilling the requirements of legislation on PD, GIS and CII. With the help of the knowledge gained, students will be able to assess the effectiveness of security measures, develop and update a threat model, design a security system, and prepare for certification of information systems, "said Andrei Bykov, head of the data protection consulting center, BI.ZONE. |

2020: Agreement with 2050.Lab to create a technopark
The National Center for Industrial Design and Innovation 2050.LAB and the Russian University of Transport (RUTH MIIT) signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of industrial design. This was announced on August 10, 2020 by the Center 2050.LAB.
The goals of this cooperation are to interest schoolchildren in industrial design, form a personnel reserve and educate a generation of talented specialists.
It is planned that 2050. LAB will act as a partner in the creation of a technopark for children and adolescents on the territory of RUTH MIIT, which should be opened in March 2021.
Also, 2050.LAB will assist in the formation of an educational program, studio designers will hold seminars, lectures and master classes for Technopark students, act as mentors and mentors for young fans of industrial design.
It is very important to begin acquaintance with the topic of industrial design as early as possible. Having interested children and adolescents in how a train, car or other vehicle is created, we will be able to educate a talented, active and creative generation. Cooperation with the center opens the opportunity for university students and students of Technopark programs to get acquainted in detail with the field of industrial design. Agreement with Russian Railways and NIIAS on the creation of a center for digital modeling of transport systems
On October 30, 2019, Russian Railways, Research and Design Institute of Informatization, Automation and Communications in Railway Transport JSC (NIIAS JSC) and the Russian University of Transport signed an agreement on cooperation in the implementation of scientific and educational projects of basic and additional education.
The corresponding document was signed by Deputy General Director of Russian Railways Pavel Ivanov, General Director of NIIAS Igor Rosenberg and Rector of the Russian University of Transport Alexander Klimov.
The parties plan to establish long-term cooperation for joint training of highly qualified specialists, improving the quality of the educational process, as well as expanding the range of fundamental and applied scientific research on the development of digital technologies in transport and in the transportation process. Joint projects will be implemented on the basis of the center for digital modeling of transport systems, which is planned to be created at the Russian University of Transport.
According to the signed document, the parties to the agreement will exchange educational, methodological and practical developments, as well as presentations and publications on all issues of interest to them. It is also planned to hold conferences and meetings on the exchange of experience at the sites of the university and the research institute.
Thanks to this cooperation, Russian Railways will receive highly qualified personnel to work in the field of operational management, and industry science will be able to provide its development with methodological and educational materials necessary to master new solutions. Students will have the opportunity to practically apply knowledge on the basis of mastering modern practices in the development and design of computer-aided control systems in railway transport.

From July 6, 2017 to April 2019, the university was called the Russian University of Transport (MIIT) (RUTH (MIIT)). Since April 2019, the name has changed to the Russian University of Transport (RUTH (MIIT)).
