History

2021: Plan to open 19 new hotels in Spain

In April 2021, it became known that the Radisson hotel group wants to expand its field of activity in Spain. The plans of the network controlled by the Chinese entrepreneur Jin Jiang - in just five years to multiply the number of institutions in the country by five times. In particular, he wants 25 hotels to be opened in 2025, compared with six that are currently located in Madrid, Seville and Gran Canaria. The company plans to open a hotel in Seville and another in Bilbao during this year, while in 2022 it wants to open another in the capital. A city that has become strategic for the group.

The company has already opened new offices in Madrid, of which it will coordinate the work of several departments around the world, including revenue management, human resources, new technologies and the procurement department. The location of the new headquarters is due to the analysis of several scenarios in Europe (in particular, a total of 11 cities) and taking into account variables such as quality of life and cost of living, real estate and infrastructure.

"To make this decision, we conducted an exhaustive analysis led by EY consulting firm. We reviewed 11 European cities, analyzing various indicators, such as quality indicators, such as talent availability, communication, infrastructure, quality of life... and quantitative indicators such as cost of living, real estate or fare. As a result of this analysis, Madrid came out on top compared to other European cities, "said Inigo Capell, executive vice president of Radisson. Since this decision was made in 2019, 170 workers have moved to Madrid, with a goal of reaching 300 people by the end of the financial year.

1994: SAS International Hotels receives a franchise to manage the Radisson brand in EMEA
