2021: Plan to open 19 new hotels in Spain
In April 2021, it became known that the Radisson hotel group wants to expand its scope of activity in Spain. Plans for a network controlled by Chinese entrepreneur Jin Jiang are to multiply the number of establishments in the country five times in just five years. In particular, he wants 25 hotels to open in 2025, compared to the six currently in Madrid, Seville and Gran Canaria. The company's immediate plans are to open a hotel in Seville and another in Bilbao during this year, while in 2022 it wants to open another in the capital. A city that has become strategic for the group.
The company has already opened new branches in Madrid, from which it will coordinate the work of several departments around the world, including revenue management, human resources, new technologies and the procurement department. The location of the new headquarters is due to the analysis of several scenarios in Europe (in particular, a total of 11 cities) and taking into account such variables as quality and cost of living, real estate and infrastructure.
"To make this decision, we conducted an exhaustive analysis led by the consulting firm EY. We looked at 11 European cities, analyzing various indicators as qualitative indicators, such as talent availability, communication, infrastructure, quality of life... and quantitative measures such as cost of living, real estate or fare. As a result of this analysis, Madrid came out on top of other European cities, "said Iñigo Capell, executive vice president of Radisson. Since this decision was made in 2019, 170 workers have moved to Madrid, the goal is to reach 300 people by the end of the financial year.
