2024: Allocation of 180 million rubles from the federal budget for the purchase of an MRI device
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order to allocate ₽180 million from the reserve fund for the purchase of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the Republican Hospital in the Altai Republic. The document was signed following a working trip of the Prime Minister to the region.
Federal funding will allow the purchase and commissioning of a new MRI apparatus by the end of 2024. The need to update the equipment was justified by the fact that the existing tomograph, released 12 years ago, has already exhausted its resource and is the only one in the republic.
Acting Head of the Altai Republic Andrei Turchak stressed the importance of this acquisition for the region. He noted that the Republican Hospital is a key medical facility serving the entire area.
As part of the modernization of the region's medical infrastructure, it is also planned to build a combined modular emergency room in the hospital camp. According to Turchak, this will optimize the routing of patients and improve their distribution by severity of the condition.
The preliminary cost of the modular reception rest is estimated at ₽452 million, and additional equipment, including a computed tomograph and ultrasound machines, will require about ₽450 million more investments.
The decision to allocate funds for magnetic resonance imaging was made as part of a wider range of measures for the socio-economic development of the Altai Republic. In August 2024, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin gave a number of instructions to relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance, to support the region. It is expected that the new MRI will significantly increase the diagnostic capabilities of the medical institution and reduce the waiting time for patients for examinations.[1]
