History
2020: Acquisition by FireEye company
The FireEye company announced on November 19, 2020 completion of the transaction on acquisition of Respond Software company and at the same time - the investment attraction in the amount of 400 million dollars from investment corporations Blackstone and ClearSky. Acquisition of Respond cost FireEye 186 million dollars.[1]
Created in the middle of the 2010th, the Respond Software company in 2017 provided the main development - the platform for automation of security centers which should imitate decision making process by the experienced analyst on security; the ultimate goal of the platform - to automate protection against cyberincidents and to unload IT security specialists.
For large corporate infrastructure it is possible today - and is necessary - automation already not only routine algorithms on data protection, but also very advanced tasks, before available only for people with the increased skill level, - Dmitry Gvozdev, the CEO of Information Technologies of the Future company noted. - But it is worth meaning that everything has limits: the target cyber attacks made by people manually are the most dangerous. And it is effective only the person can resist to the person. Another thing is that now and cybermalefactors sometimes use in the attacks of machine learning technology and artificial intelligence. The adequate automation equipment especially is necessary for effective opposition to such attacks - though eventually everything solves level of training of people - information security specialists. |
Afterwards Respond attracted investments for the total amount of 32 million dollars, from them 20 arrived in May, 2019. FireEye estimated Respond at much large sum.
Functions of expanded automatic response to cyberincidents (XDR) will be integrated into the Mandiant Advantage platform in the nearest future.
As for investments, under the terms of the transaction of Blackstone and ClearSky purchase preferred securities of FireEye at the price of 1000 dollars for an action (which can be exchanged then for normal stocks of the company at the price of 18 dollars apiece). Besides, the senior managing director of Blackstone Viral Patel will become the board member of FireEye.[2]
