2023: Ivan Yuzefovich became co-owner of Ruseed

On September 27, 2023, it became known that Ivan Yuzefovich, partner of the ex-president of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC) Iskandar Makhmudov, became a co-owner of the seed supplier Ruseed.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, Yuzefovich acquired 100% in City Construction Solutions LLC, which owns 50% shares in Rusid LLC, Russian Selection LLC and NPO Russian Selection LLC. The remaining 50% in these companies through Proinvest LLC is controlled by Ruseed managing partner Mark Gecht, Dmitry Denisenkov and Maria Michelle Weinstein.

Ivan Yuzefovich became a co-owner of the seed supplier Ruseed

Ruseed is a production breeding and seed company supplying sunflower, soybean and flax seeds. It is represented in most regions of the Southern Federal District, the Volga region and the Urals, and the area of land sown by Ruseed hybrids is estimated at 200 thousand hectares. In August 2023, information appeared that Ruseed plans to invest 3 billion rubles in a breeding and seed center, a greenhouse complex and the production of corn and sunflower hybrids. In particular, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, the site of the company for the production of sunflower seeds with a capacity of 10 thousand tons will start working in 2023.

Market participants believe that the new co-owner of Ruseed, against the background of import substitution in the agricultural sector, intends to develop a separate direction of seed production. Yuzefovich owns 30% of KM Group LLC, which is controlled by Iskandar Makhmudov through Violan LLC. Another structure of Yuzefovich - Investkom LLC - owns the agroholding AFG National, on the balance sheet of which there are about 180 thousand hectares of agricultural land. In turn, Violan owns 50% of Cosminvest (as of May 2023, it manages 258 thousand hectares of land). The owners of agricultural holdings projects in the field of seed production make it possible to improve the provision of sowing materials and to teach an additional source of income. On the other hand, such initiatives require a lot of investment.[1]
