2023: Mishustin allocated 3 billion rubles for the reconstruction of the Petrovsky Scientific Center for Surgery

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order, which allocated more than 3 billion rubles from the government reserve fund for the last stage of the reconstruction of the Petrovsky Russian Scientific Center for Surgery (RNCh). The corresponding document was published on August 10, 2023.

According to the press service of the Cabinet, the allocated funds will speed up the completion of the reconstruction of building "B." This building will house an admission department for planned patients, a clinical and diagnostic laboratory, a medical rehabilitation department and a general oncology department. After the reconstruction of the premises and equipping them with new equipment, the volume of medical care in this institution will double.

The government noted that by August 2023, the RNCh is one of the largest medical institutions of a surgical profile in Russia. It includes departments of cardiac surgery, transfusiology and laboratory technologies, reconstructive surgery, anesthesiology and resuscitation, transplantology. The center is conducting scientific research and development, the latest medical technologies are used.

Reconstruction of the building, which is located in the Central District of Moscow, began in 2012. As reported in the government of the Russian Federation, after four years, work was suspended "due to lack of funding and the need to finalize the project." First, the federal authorities allocated more than 5.9 billion rubles of budget investments for the reconstruction of the center, and then another 1.9 billion rubles in connection with the adjustment of the project.

The final stage of reconstruction of the surgery center will last several years. In 2023, it is planned to complete repairs in building "B." After its opening until 2025, the reconstruction of the D building will take place. It is planned that this building will provide high-tech medical care to patients, including in the field of micro- and neurosurgery.

Fire at the surgery center in Moscow

On August 29, 2022, a fire broke out at the Russian Scientific Center for Surgery named after Academician B.V. Petrovsky. Rescuers evacuated 36 people from the building, six of them with limited mobility, ten people left on their own. No one was injured, reports TASS with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

The message about the fire on the 11th floor of the Russian Scientific Center for Surgery in Abrikosovsky Lane arrived at 04:00 on August 29, 2022. Employees of the city's emergency services quickly arrived at the scene. The fire was extinguished on an area of ​ ​ 60 square meters. More than 130 people and 35 pieces of equipment were involved in the elimination of the fire.

A strong fire broke out at the surgery center in Moscow

The fire was assigned the third difficulty rank. By 18:00 Moscow time on August 29, 2022, the cause of the fire was not named.

The Russian Scientific Center for Surgery named after Academician B.V. Petrovsky is the largest multidisciplinary research surgical institution, whose specialists diagnose diseases, treat and rehabilitate patients after unique operations.[1]

A medical scientific and clinical cluster has been created on the basis of the center. It includes 5 federal institutions

In April 2022, the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Russian Scientific Center for Surgery named after Academician B.V. Petrovsky" (FSBNU "RNTCH named after ACOD B.V. Petrovsky") announced the creation of a medical scientific and clinical cluster on its basis. It includes five large clinical, scientific and sanatorium-resort institutions:

  • FSBNU "Central Clinical Hospital of the Russian Academy of Sciences";
  • FSBUZ "Hospital of the Russian Academy of Sciences" (Troitsk);
  • FSBUZ "Sanatorium named after A.M. Gorky RAS" (Kislovodsk);
  • FSBUZ "A.I. Maystrenko Boarding House" (Krasnodar Territory);
  • FSBNU "Scientific Research Institute of Human Morphology named after Academician A.P. Avtsyn."

On the basis of the Petrovsky Russian Scientific and Clinical Center, a medical scientific and clinical cluster was created. It includes 5 federal institutions

According to the press service of the RNCh named after ACOD. B.V. Petrovsky, the medical cluster was created on the initiative Ministry of Education and Science RUSSIAN FEDERATION and agreement with (Russian Academy of Sciences RAS) in order to form conditions for improving the safety of high-tech treatment of citizens of the Russian Federation, the formation of a closed cycle of development of new medical technologies, medicines and medical devices, strengthening the scientific potential of organizations and the formation of a single scientific and clinical ecosystem.

Its authors attributed to the main goals of the project:

  1. Element of the numbered list of strengthening the scientific potential of Russia;
  2. Element of the numbered list of the principle of a complete closed cycle of a high-tech medical process from the idea of ​ ​ creating a new method of diagnosis or treatment, conducting experimental research and implementing industrial prototypes to clinical trials;
  3. Numbered list item of new effective and safe methods of diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of diseases;
  4. Numbered list item enhancement of quality of care provided.

Thanks to the large-scale unification of leading scientific and medical institutions, the most modern and effective medical services will be available to our patients within the framework of the "full-cycle medicine" system, added to the RNCH named after ACOD. B.V. Petrovsky.[2]
