2024: Construction of a hip prosthesis plant in Primorsky Krai
In September 2024, it became known that a factory for the production of hip prostheses was built in the Primorsky Territory for ₽100 million. The new plant, owned by a resident of the Mikhailovsky Advanced Socio-Economic Development Territory (TOP), is located in the city of Arsenyev.
At the first stage, the plant plans to produce 5 thousand sets of hip endoprostheses annually, with the possibility of increasing production to 10 thousand by 2026 and reaching full capacity of 50 thousand products by 2027.
According to RBC, the Rutil company responsible for the implementation of this project has already manufactured and certified a prototype prosthesis. In the future, the company plans to expand production and begin producing other types of prostheses, including knee and elbow. The main goal of the enterprise is to occupy up to 60% of the Russian public procurement market, significantly increasing the share of domestic products, which by September covers only about 7% of needs.
A significant part of the investment in the project will be directed to the purchase of high-tech equipment, including a direct laser growing plant, gas sterilizers and recycling systems. The production will use mainly Russian materials, such as titanium alloys and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. The company also plans to enter international markets from 2027, including the EAEU countries, Southeast Asia and India.
The project became possible thanks to the support of Askold JSC, the founder of Rutil. Askold specializes in the production of pipeline fittings for shipbuilding and other industrial enterprises, and is also headed by Leonid Kolesnikov, who runs a new prosthesis enterprise.[1]
