Tourist flow in Vladivostok doubled over the year and amounted to 2.3 million people

The number of tourists who visited Vladivostok in 2024 amounted to 2.3 million people, which is more than twice the figures for 2023. This was announced by the deputy head of the administration Vladivostok Ekaterina Sivolovskaya on April 25, 2025.

In 2023, 1.1 million tourists visited Vladivostok, and the total number of guests who visited the Primorsky Territory in 2024 reached about 4 million people, which also demonstrates a significant increase compared to the previous period.

Tourist flow in Vladivostok doubled in a year

The bulk of the tourist flow is made up of Russian citizens - about 88% of the total number of visitors. Vladivostok is especially popular among residents of Yakutia and the Khabarovsk Territory. Guests from the central part of Russia also visit the city, but their number is less.

Ekaterina Sivolovskaya added that the number of small and medium-sized businesses engaged in tourism, including transportation and catering services, exceeds 3 thousand enterprises. About 10 thousand people are officially employed in this sector.

The most popular among tourists coming to Vladivostok are several attractions. The Golden Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge over Golden Horn Bay, which has become a symbol of the city. The Russian Bridge, which connects mainland Vladivostok with Russky Island, is one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in the world.

The Primorsky Aquarium, the largest in Russia, attracts more than 2 million visitors annually. The lighthouse on the Tokarevskaya cat, one of the oldest lighthouses in the Far East, has become a popular place for walks and photo shoots. The Eagle's Nest observation deck offers panoramic views of the city and Golden Horn Bay.[1]

Construction ski resort "Arsenyev" for ₽9,3 billion

In Arsenyev, the construction of the first high-speed cable car chairlift at the new ski resort is being completed, the cost of which is ₽9,3 billion. This was announced on December 13, 2024 by representatives of the Primorye SportHotelInvest investor company. Read more here.

2023: Vladivostok Hotel Services Market Volume Grows 9.7% to 2.16 Million Overnight Stays

In 2023, the number of tourists in Vladivostok increased significantly. In particular, the volume of the hotel services market reached 2.16 million overnight stays. This is 9.7% more compared to 2022, when the figure was 1.97 million overnight stays. Such figures are reflected in the BusinesStat study, the results of which TAdviser got acquainted with at the end of November 2024.

The review takes into account occupations in hotels, motels, hostels and guest houses. At the same time, collective specialized accommodation facilities are not taken into consideration: sanatorium organizations, rest houses, boarding houses, campsites, recreation centers and tourist bases. In addition, hotel institutions do not include apartments that provide long-term accommodation, that is, long-term rent.

According to estimates, in 2019 the volume of the hotel services market in Vladivostok amounted to 2.09 million overnight stays. In 2020, against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, a sharp decline followed: the number of overnight stays decreased by 44.2% - to 1.17 million. In 2021, the industry's volume recovered to 1.83 million overnight stays, which exceeded the previous year's value by 56.6%. And in 2022, an increase of another 7.9% was recorded. The closure of borders in 2021-2022, on the one hand, led to an increase in domestic tourism. However, on the other hand, this limited the inbound flow to the region from Asian countries.

It is noted that in 2022-2023, people chose a vacation within the country due to difficulties with obtaining visas, an unstable exchange rate, difficulties with using bank cards. At the same time, the number of foreign guests in hotels Vladivostok has not recovered. According to the published data, according to the results of 2023, more than 3.5 million people visited Primorye. Primorsky Krai is the leader in tourist trips among the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District.[2]
