Salyut design office

History

The Salyut design office was formed in 1951 by the outstanding aircraft designer V.M. Myasishchev. Under its management the ZM and M4 serial bombers which received the name "Bison" and also the supersonic strategic M-50 bomber in NATO are created.

In 1960 the enterprise was converted to space-rocket subject. The staff of design office created a number of unique products among which: the fighting complexes equipped with intercontinental ballistic missiles; world famous highly reliable carrier rocket JSC "Proton"; the spacecrafts of the 20-ton class "Space — 929,-1267,-1443,-1686" which formed a basis for creation of the modules "Quantum", "Quantum-2", "Crystal", "Range", "Nature", the module DM for RSC Energia.

June 7, 1993. The order of the President of the Russian Federation formed the State Research and Production Space Center of M.V. Khrunichev which integrated Salyut Design office and Machine-building plant of M.V. Khrunichev that served merge of scientific and production capacities of two enterprises.

In the 90th years were developed by staff of CB: a functional load pulley Dawn and the office module "Star" for the ISS, the upgraded Proton-M launch vehicle, KRK Rokot on the basis of MBR RS-18 (SS-19), RB Briz-M.

In August, 2005 the first device of a space segment of a system of remote sensing of Earth - Monitor-E developed by staff of Salyut design office was put to orbit.

Now creation of the space KasSat complex for the benefit of the Republic of Kazakhstan comes to the end, works on creation of the space-rocket Angara complex are continued. Works on creation of carrier rockets for South Korea and Kazakhstan are conducted.

Creation of the multi-purpose laboratory module (MPLM) for the ISS is begun.

The main activity

Research and development on creation, upgrade and operation of carrier rockets, upper stages, modules of space stations and spacecrafts. Exploratory, application studies and developments, including works on the new high technologies used in the space equipment, ecology and on creation of experimental installations for modeling of processes of work of KA in the conditions of space.
