2017: Mitel buys ShoreTel

In July, 2017 it was announced ShoreTel sale. The American producer of the systems of corporate telephony the Mitel company at which several months the transaction on acquisition of the competitor of ShoreTel — Polycom broke earlier buys.

The acquisition value of ShoreTel is $430 million or about $7.5 for an action that is 28% more than a quotation rate of the company on the eve of the declaration of the transaction which is going to be closed in the third quarter 2017. After that in the market of services of unified communications (Unified Communications as a Service, UCaaS) the second in value player will appear. The united company will have 3200 partners and 4200 employees worldwide.

After merger of ShoreTel annual revenues of Mitel will exceed $1.3 billion, the share of the repeating income in turnover will make 39%, and UCaaS-revenue will double and will reach $362 million.

It is worth reminding that Mitel already tried to purchase earlier ShoreTel. In 2014 the proposal in the amount of $8.1 counting on one action was made, but the Board of Directors of ShoreTel then rejected the transaction, having considered it underestimated. By the end of 2015 securities of ShoreTel reached a point in $10.32, however then they began to become cheaper. In July, 2017 they cost $5.75.

In 2016 Mitel was close to merger of Polycom almost for $2 billion, but the last as a result concluded the bargain with Siris Capital Group investment fund.[1]
