2021: Attracting $2 million investment
In mid-March 2021, a startup founded by MIPT graduate Dmitry Pushkarev, who created the Sidekick browser, raised $2 million from American investors. The round was led by venture funds Kleiner Perkins and Remote First Capital.
Sidekick creates a single workspace and makes work browser Chrome more productive by combining applications and search. Applications such as,, and Slack Skype WhatsApp can be anchored to a side panel in a vertical stack where the user can easily switch between them.
In the browser, search is also available for all third-party applications, and for the most commonly used tabs, Sidekick creates so-called sessions that save a certain set of applications and automatically download it when you log in. The built-in search also covers sessions, so users do not need to manually scroll through the search history in the browser to track important information.
Sidekick also solves the performance problem from the technical side, optimizing the use of RAM. So, Sidekick removes rarely used tabs from the history to speed up the download of the desired pages.
In addition, Sidekick uses its own ad blocker and anti-fingerprinting technology to protect privacy and increase download speed. The startup promises not to sell user data to third-party companies, including search queries, view history and any personal information.
The browser can also be used as a space for teamwork - it offers customizable workspaces for creating various sessions, the application sidebar and tabs for individual projects or clients.
Sidekick - the fastest browser created specifically for work - reads the company's slogan. In total, the browser has about 30 thousand users.[1] |
