History
2022: Transfer of OMZ shares to Wood & Company Financial Services
The United Machine-Building Plants (OMZ) group controlled by Gazprombank left the Czech company Skoda JS a.s. and a number of its subsidiaries. This was announced on June 17, 2022 to TAdviser by representatives of OMZ.
OMZ transferred its stake to an investment financially group Wood &Company Financial Services a.s. acting in the interests of a large central the European power company. CEZ The value of the deal was not disclosed.
As the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Gazprombank Tigran Khachaturov explained, the decision to withdraw from the share capital of Skoda JS was made against the background of sanctions restrictions imposed on the company and other legal risks, as a result of which there was a danger of stopping the enterprise with its subsequent bankruptcy.
"Thus, the deal is aimed at the return of Russian investments, as well as at preserving the company and its labor collective," Tigran Khachaturov emphasized. |
The Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Gazprombank also added that funds from the sale will be invested in the development of strategically important Russian assets and projects.
It is assumed that the preservation of Skoda JS will allow the company to continue to fulfill obligations under existing contracts in the framework of operation, maintenance, modernization and decommissioning and dismantling of nuclear facilities.
2004: Acquisition of Skoda JS by OMZ Group
On April 24, 2004, it became known that OJSC United Machine-Building Plants (OMZ) acquired three subsidiaries of Czech Skoda Holding - Skoda JS and Skoda Steel (divisions of Hute and Kovarny). The purchase agreement was signed in Prague by the general director of OMZ Yevgeny Yakovlev and the head of Skoda Holding Jiri Zapletal.
Skoda JS designs, manufactures and maintains nuclear engineering products, as well as equipment for the chemical and petrochemical industries. Skoda Kovarny produces components for four-stroke diesel engines and metal structures for wind farms, Skoda Hute - steel and cast iron castings. The total sales of the three companies in 2003 amounted to about $200 million. Upon completion of the transaction between OMZ and Skoda Holding, Skoda JS will be integrated into the nuclear engineering division of the combined company OMZ - Power Machines, and Skoda Steel will become part of its metallurgical complex.[1]
