On February 13, 2008 in Yerevan between JSC Russian Railways and the Republic of Armenia the Concession contract about transfer of the state Armyanskaya zheleznaya doroga Ltd to management of YuKZhD Ltd was signed.
Tasks of YuKZhD Ltd include upgrade of infrastructure of the railroad RA, development of cooperation with the states, adjacent with Armenia, development of intra republican and international passenger and freight traffic. The amount of investments, performed by the Company, is $572 million, $220 million from which are going to be invested within the first 5 years. YuKZhD Ltd began the activity on June 1, 2008. The mission of the Company is development as the national transport company which is dynamically developing efficiency and service quality by means of particular strategic objectives.
