2024: Port Launch
In early September 2024, a new specialized port with its own railway infrastructure was launched in the Far East. The project, implemented by the resident of the Free Port of Vladivostok - the company "Seaport" Sukhodol, "was an important step in the development of the transport infrastructure of the region. The construction of the port is aimed at providing access to sea lanes for small and medium-sized coal mining enterprises. The total cost of the project amounted to ₽51,8 billion.
According to TASS, the construction of the new port began with the aim of improving the logistics connection for the coal mining industry. The area of the facility is 197 hectares, and its cargo turnover is designed to process up to 20 million tons of coal annually. Thanks to its own railway tracks, the port will significantly speed up the delivery of coal to marine terminals, which will reduce transport costs and increase the competitiveness of small and medium-sized companies in international markets.
The new port became part of the strategic program for the development of infrastructure in the Far East, which was confirmed at the presentation of the project, in which the video conference president participated. During the Russia Vladimir Putin opening ceremony, the head states gave a symbolic start to the work of the facility, noting the importance of the project for the regional economy and wishing success to its leadership.
According to Sergey Kropotov, General Director of Sukhodol Seaport, the new infrastructure will not only serve coal mining companies, but also contribute to the development of other industries interested in logistics support for the export of products. The port is equipped with modern equipment and equipment, which will ensure high efficiency of the terminal throughout the year[1]
