2025: Arrest of the head physician in the case of embezzlement of 53.3 million rubles

At the end of July 2025, the Magassky District Court in Ingushetia placed under house arrest until September 4, 2025, the chief physician of the Sunzhensky Central District Hospital, who is accused of embezzling more than 53.3 million rubles in collusion with several other persons involved in the case. It is reported by RIA Novosti. At the same time, the agency does not name the doctor who was sent under house arrest.

According to TASS, at the end of July 2025, operational-search measures were held in the Sunzhensky Central District Hospital in the case of the former Minister of Health of the Republic, the chief physician of the oncological dispensary Magomedbashir Balaev.

In the case of Balaev, searches were carried out in the Sunzhenskaya hospital. We are talking about embezzlement committed while he was still in the post of minister. The decree on operational-search measures was issued due to embezzlement in the amount of more than 100 million rubles, - a source told the agency.

At the end of July 2025, the Supreme Court of Ingushetia sent Balaev under arrest. He is suspected of embezzling by a group of persons by prior conspiracy from July 2022 to July 2023 more than 53.3 million rubles allocated as a subsidy to the Ministry of Health of Ingushetia for the purchase of medical equipment.

Balaev headed the Ministry of Health of Ingushetia from February 2022 to July 2023, then became the coordinator of the United Russia party project "Healthy Future." In March 2025, he was appointed director of the Republican Oncology Center. His predecessor in this post, the head physician Moussa Gezgiev, received a suspended sentence in May for the purchase of counterfeit drugs for 10 million rubles.[1]
