History

2024: Launch of a giant 3D printer for printing buildings in Tomsk

In December 2024, a 3D printer designed for printing construction projects was launched at Tomsk State University of Architecture and Construction (TGASU). The device installed in the scientific and educational center "Additive Construction of Siberia" will become the basis for research in the development of new materials and technologies necessary for the construction of buildings in the Siberian climate. This was reported by the press service of the university.

According to TGASU, the project is being implemented within the framework of cooperation with the Russian company Smart Build Service. The latest 3D printer model, delivered to Tomsk, measures 4×6×4 meters and is intended for the construction of one- and two-story buildings, including residential buildings, office premises and social infrastructure facilities.

For Russia, the issues of import substitution and the introduction of modern technologies are extremely relevant, and our project fully meets these requirements, - said the rector of TGASU Viktor Vlasov.

The collaboration between the university and Smart Build Service provides for the integration of modules on additive technologies into training programs. According to the head of the center, Natalia Kopanitsy, the new direction will increase the attractiveness of the university's educational programs, and graduate students and master's students have already shown interest in researching this topic.

In addition to research and educational activities, it is planned to use the results of the center's work in real construction. In 2025, the company will begin to build houses in Altai using technologies tested on the basis of TGASU.[1]

1997

In 1997, the university received university status and was renamed Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (TGASU).

1993

In 1993, TISI was renamed the Tomsk State Academy of Architecture and Construction (TGASA).

1952-1953

The educational institution "Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering" dates back to 1952, when the Tomsk Institute for the Training of Elevator Engineers was re-created by a government decision. In 1953, by order of the Minister of Culture of the USSR, the institute received the status of the Tomsk Civil Engineering Institute (TISI).

1943

In 1943, the technical school was renamed the Tomsk Polytechnic (2nd formation).

1939

Again, by decision of the government in 1939, the university was relocated back to Moscow, and its premises were given over to the Tomsk Flour and Elevator College (2nd formation).

1931

One of them is the Tomsk Flour-Elevator College (training of specialists-technicians and foremen for the construction of elevators in Siberia), located in buildings on Solyanaya Square. However, by order of the government of the country, the very next year (1931) the technical school was reorganized into a university - the site and premises of the technical school were transferred to the Mukomol-Elevator Institute relocated from Moscow to Tomsk. Along with the "red building," a neighboring building stands out for it - the former institution of the prison and investigative purpose of the NKVD. It is being rebuilt under the additional educational building of the created university.

1923-1930

To raise the prestige of colleges, in 1923, as part of the reform of technical education of the country, by personal order of People's Commissar A. Lunacharsky, the training institute was reorganized into the First Siberian Polytechnic College named after Comrade K.A. Timiryazev. In the conditions of industrialization in 1930, there is a need for an early increase in the number of technical schools and the Tomsk Polytechnic is urgently divided into dozens of Tomsk technical schools, the Polytechnic itself is disbanded.

1901-1904

The history of the university dates back to 1901, when the First Siberian Commercial School was created in Tomsk, for which in 1904, through the efforts of Tomsk merchants-patrons and city authorities, a special building was built, which is now the 2nd ("Red") TGASU building. The building was built with the participation of the famous architect K.K. Lygin.
