2024: Factory fire in India

On September 28, 2024, a strong fire India smartphones Apple iPhone broke out at the Tata Electronics plant in the south, which produces components for, among other things. The company stopped work indefinitely.

The Hosura plant produces rear panels and some other iPhone elements. According to available information, the fire occurred in the painting department of components for cellular devices. The fire quickly spread through the building, and thick smoke enveloped the territory of the enterprise. Panic broke out among workers and locals. Several fire brigades were involved in the evacuation of all employees from the premises.

As of the beginning of October 2024, the causes of the fire are being established. It is known that about 10 people received minor injuries. It's not clear if the fire has spread to nearby buildings, one of which is set to begin assembling an iPhone by the end of 2024. Fire engines are on duty at the plant, as there is a possibility of another fire.

Eyewitnesses of the incident note that the plant suffered serious damage. It is said about the collapse of structures and roofs. At the same time, Tata Electronics emphasizes that the security protocols in force at the enterprise made it possible to quickly evacuate all employees and avoid casualties.

The fire could negatively affect the operation of iPhone supply chains - especially given the projected growth in demand during the pre-holiday season. Apple seeks to diversify beyond and sees China India as a key market to sustain further growth. Tata Electronics, part of Tata Group the $165 billion Indian company, is one of Apple's main suppliers in India. When the affected enterprise will be able to resume activities, not specified.[1]
