2019: Opening of laboratory on cyber security

On April 24, 2019 the InfoWatch company reported that its president Natalya Kasperskaya and the governor of the Kirov region Igor Vasilyev participated in the opening ceremony of laboratory on cyber security in the Volga Federal District (VFD) based on the Vyatka state university (VYATGU). The educational laboratory InfoWatch represents base for educational and research activity in information security field and should become competence center on counteraction to cyberthreats. The vice governor Andrey Plitko, the minister of information technologies and communication of the region Yury Palyukh, the rector of the Vyatka State University Valentin Pugach also took part in opening of laboratory.

The laboratory is equipped all complex of software products of InfoWatch company and intended for work in different IT environments. But the most important that students will be able to receive practical skills of work here, to get acquainted with real information threats which the enterprises face.

With development of technologies also threats of information security increase. Many enterprises test staff shortage – there are not enough specialists in the field of information security. The laboratory which we tear off will allow future specialists to perfect in this sphere the skills of reflection of cyber attacks in the conditions which are brought closer to real.

The educational laboratory InfoWatch in VyatGU is created within implementation of the national project "Digital Economy". All software set in laboratory, domestic production. Capacities of laboratory will be used not only for training of students.

2015

For August, 2015 VyatGU contains 11 faculties (including biological) integrating 49 departments at which more than 12,500 students study. The number of scientific and pedagogical employees makes more than 600 people, of them 70 — doctors of science and professors, more than 300 — candidates of science and associate professors. The university performs preparation more than according to 250 programs of the general, secondary professional, higher education (including a specialist programme, a bachelor degree and a magistracy), to programs of training of the top skills in a postgraduate study, professional training, additional education of children and adults. Scientific activity is performed in 14 scientific, research and production both scientific and education centers and 19 research and research and production laboratories, 4 design offices, experienced and production division - the center of prototyping of VyatGU.

2001: Assignment of the status "classical"

In 2001 the university is given the status of classical.

1963: Foundation of university

The university was founded in 1963.
