Allocation of 400 million rubles for the development of oncogematological assistance
In October 2021, the Tinkov Family Foundation announced the allocation of 400 million rubles for the development of oncogematological assistance. A corresponding program designed to diagnose and treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has been launched for a 3-year period. It involves the additional equipment of regional molecular genetic laboratories, the creation of an information system and internships of doctors
24 medical institutions in 19 regions joined the project. At the expense of the program, they will purchase expensive equipment for molecular biological and genetic research, reagents for them, train regional doctors and create a single information platform.
According to the general director of the Tinkov Family Foundation, Alexander Sinitsyn, this program and joint research will help bring to a new level the primary diagnosis of AML in adult patients, begin treatment in a timely manner, determine the prognosis of the disease and the indications for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The result of large-scale work should be an increase in the survival rate by half - from 20% to 40%, he said.
According to the fund, in all domestic registers of bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cell donors by October 2021 there are about 160 thousand people, while the minimum number of donors needed for Russia is 1 million. In September 2021, the Tinkovs Family Foundation also announced a partnership with the Leukemia Foundation to jointly develop the targeted care for adult oncohematological patients.
The need for bone marrow transplantation is estimated at about 5 thousand operations per year, while about 2 thousand transplants are carried out annually. For example, the director of the Kirov Research Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion FMBA Igor Paramonov estimated the need for 5.1 thousand operations, and in the official reports of the RNIMU named after N.I. Pirogov, the need is estimated at 3 thousand operations.[1]
Tinkov allocated $200 million to his foundation to popularize bone marrow donation
In early February 2021, Oleg Tinkov announced the allocation of $200 million to a charitable fund designed to solve the problems of patients with blood cancer and the development of the institute of donation. Documents for creating an organization are in the process of registration, the banker wrote on his Instagram page.
I hope that our Tinkov Family Foundation will be registered soon, and we will begin to help all interested parties build a real and large bone marrow register in Russia, as it exists in many countries!, "Tinkov said. |
According to him, in addition to the allocated $200 million, new funds will not be attracted to the fund until "we show efficiency."
The president of the new fund was the wife of businessman Rina Tinkova. As Oleg Tinkov noted, the purpose of the fund is to help Russians who have been diagnosed with blood cancer so that they are not forced to look for donors around the world and die without finding them or the funds for treatment.
Our own genotype coincides with our compatriots with a greater degree of probability and costs 10 times cheaper. Let's try! A good beginning is half the battle. We want to help and save lives - such a goal, "said the entrepreneur, who was previously diagnosed with an acute form of leukemia. Subsequently, Tinkov reported a complete remission following a bone marrow examination. |
The development of the National Register of Bone Marrow Donors (RDKM) named after Vasi Perevoshchikova is also engaged in Rusfond. At a meeting of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights on December 10, 2020, the head of the Rusfond Lev Ambinder told Russian President Vladimir Putin that at that time the RDKM contained information about 42.5 thousand people. Following the meeting, Putin instructed the Government of the Russian Federation to "analyze the international practice of maintaining bone marrow donor registers and, if necessary, submit proposals on the advisability of amending the legislation."[2]
