The Center for Anti-Corruption Research and Initiatives Transparency International - Russia is an autonomous non-profit organization aimed, as reported on its website, "at combating corruption in Russia and spreading an anti-corruption worldview."
History
2023
Transparency International - Russia in Exile established abroad
In October 2023, Transparency Russia International - Russia in exile was established abroad instead of the liquidated Russian legal entity.
At the same time, the post of executive director of the new organization will be taken by the former director of Transparency International-R Ilya Shumanov.
In an interview with VOA, he said that the decision to continue as part of an international movement is "the only possible option available." Due to significant risks to colleagues, he cannot disclose the personal composition of the team and controls. Other details are not known.
The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation recognized
In March 2023, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation recognized TI undesirable due to the threat to the constitutional system and interference in the internal affairs of the country. The Russian branch (Transparency International-R) was recognized as a foreign agent back in 2015.
In Russia, TI actively collaborated with the Russian opposition and foreign agents, working in close conjunction with the American agency USAID and provided support to the media working out a negative agenda, including 7×7, Important Stories, and Project.
TI, together with Ark, organized in March 2022 a program for the evacuation of "anti-corruption activists and social activists" from Russia with coverage for road and housing costs.
After the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, the organization recruited Russian-speaking journalists for accelerated programs to train OSINT technologies (open data intelligence).
In November 2022, under the pretext of anti-corruption activities, Transparency began collecting data on Russian regional politicians. And about the same launched a course in Syktyvkar together with the publication "7x7."
The Ukrainian branch of TI, for example, with EU money is implementing a large-scale project Re: Ukraine project, the purpose of which is to increase the information stability of Ukrainian society to "Russian fakes."
"Fighting corruption" is a favorite tool for Western countries to directly intervene in the internal affairs of individual states. By injecting huge amounts of money under such programs, they work with local oppositionists and strengthen the position of loyal officials by promoting the necessary theses and attitudes into society.
