Ulyanovsk State Technical University (full name of the federal state budgetary educational institution of higher education "Ulyanovsk State Technical University," also known as UlSTU, unofficial name - Polytech) is a higher educational institution located in Ulyanovsk. Until 1994, it was called the Polytechnic Institute, founded in 1957.

History

2024: Opening of educational and production cluster "Radioelectronics"

Ulyanovsk In early September 2024, the Radioelectronics educational and production cluster was opened, created on the basis of the Ulyanovsk State Technical University. This project is aimed at training highly qualified specialists in the field of radio electronics, with an emphasis on the development of professional competencies in demand in the industry. The opening of the cluster was made possible thanks to the support of the concern [[Radio-electronic technologies KRET|Electronic Technologies (KRET)]] and the participation of a key partner - the Ulyanovsk Instrument Design Bureau (UKBP).

According to the Rostec concern, the opening of the cluster is a strategic step within the framework of the federal project "Professionalism." The main task of the project is to synchronize the needs of enterprises with the capabilities of the secondary vocational education system to ensure the technological sovereignty of the country. The cluster is focused on practical training of personnel, which allows graduates to adapt as quickly as possible to the real working conditions in modern production.

The educational and production cluster includes training and production areas equipped with the latest equipment identical to that used at leading enterprises of the industry. In these areas, students will master areas such as PCB manufacturing, automatic and semi-automatic installation, assembly, configuration and control of electronic devices. This will minimize the period of adaptation of graduates in the workplace.

Director General of UKBP Alexander Voit emphasized the importance of the cluster for the training of young specialists who can immediately begin to fulfill professional tasks at a high level. He noted that the project became possible thanks to active interaction with regional authorities and educational institutions. The cluster will include college students, including the A.N. Afanasyev College of Economics and Informatics, the Ulyanovsk Vocational and Polytechnic College and the Ulyanovsk Multidisciplinary College.[1]

2018

Opening of the center of industrial Internet

In October 2018, on the basis of the Ulyanovsk Technical University (UlSTU), the Center for Industrial Internet in Ulyanovsk was opened.

University students, young scientists, enterprise specialists will be able to conduct research here in the field of the Internet of Things, robotic production systems and digital transformation of industry.

The regional Information Technology Development Fund allocated eight million rubles to finance the center. Partners of the Center were suppliers of intelligent solutions in the field of robotics and automation technologies - KUKA and Ulyanovsk Machine Tool Plant. In May 2018, an agreement was concluded between UlGTU and DMG MORI on the transfer of production machines to the educational institution.

UlSTU has been cooperating with enterprises in the region for a long time: relations have been built to train specialists, basic departments have been opened, and cooperation has been established to organize practices.

The industrial Internet Center will become the core of the Higher Engineering School, in which all technical faculties, all the most modern areas and the most modern educational programs will participate. I am confident that the expectations of our industrial partners will be realized, and our graduates will have all the necessary competencies in digital technology.

The opening of the Center for Industrial Internet in Mechanical Engineering will significantly affect the development of science in the region. It is very important that smart equipment installed in the Center for Industrial Internet is the most advanced equipment used in real production and produced in the Ulyanovsk region. I am sure that the opening of the Center for Industrial Internet in Mechanical Engineering will significantly affect the development of science in the region. Cooperation with high-tech enterprises and companies will allow scientists to explore and create systems of Industry 4.0, smart production, digital factories. And students - to study modern technologies not only in theory, but also in practice. Of course, the center is an excellent acquisition for the university and a gift for the entire region in the Year of Smart Technologies and Creative Industries.
