2019: Johnson & Johnson redeemed all Verb Surgical
In the middle of December, 2019 Johnson & Johnson redeemed from Google jointly of the created developer of Verb Surgical robots surgeons. It is expected that the transaction will be closed in the first half of 2020.
Since July, 2019 Verb is supervised the former head of CONMED company Kurt Azarbarzin. By December of development of Verb Surgical did not enter the market yet, but the head of department of the medical equipment of Johnson & Johnson Gary Pruden considers that the startup "can change the future of surgery in general". The new platform of digital surgery should integrate possibilities of robotics and visualization and also the advanced instruments of communication and data analysis.
Now Johnson & Johnson should bring the new platform to the market without participation of Google. Experts consider that developments of Verb Surgical can quite be entitled the innovation device in the field of surgical robotics.
The head of Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Ashley McEvoy noted that the platform is already ready to the first tests, and by December, 2019 the company actively discusses a possibility of their carrying out with regulating authorities of the USA and Europe. In 2018-2019 the Johnson & Johnson company spent about $12 billion for merges and merger of different producers of medical devices, and it is supposed that their developments and technologies were used by Verb Surgical.[1]
2015: Johnson & Johnson and "subsidiary" of Google created Verb Surgical company
In 2015 Johnson & Johnson and Verily, one of Google subsidiary companies, combined efforts and based a startup of Verb Surgical which had to use possibilities of J&J Ethicon in the field of surgery and experience of Google in the field of machine learning and data analysis. Creation of a robotic surgical system which could be used in open, laparoscopic, chreskozhny and endolyuminalny transactions was the purpose.
