2023: Revenue growth by 14% to RUB 9 billion

In 2023, dairy producer Viola registered revenue of 9 billion rubles against 7.9 billion rubles a year earlier. Thus, the annual revenue of the Russian company increased by 14%. Net profit increased by the same 14% and reached 295 million rubles. Viola disclosed such data in early April 2024.

The drivers of income growth in the group included the categories of cheeses and yogurts traditional for the manufacturer. The leader in the sales structure remains processed cheeses, which Viola produces at its own enterprise in the Moscow region. In 2023, the maximum production capacity of the enterprise increased by 50% and reached 23 thousand tons per year. In addition to Viola processed cheeses, the plant cuts and packs yellow cheeses.

Along with processed cheeses, curd cheeses made a significant contribution to Viola's financial performance in 2023. This category was included in the top 5 best-selling items of the company's assortment. The growth of the Russian curd cheese market, according to Ntech, in 2023 amounted to 15% in physical terms, and sales of the same products under the Viola brand increased by 54%.

In the market for thick yogurt, Viola sales in 2023 increased by 42%. The pace in this category was several times higher than the market values, which, according to the research company NTech, amounted to just over 5%, the press release says.

In total, in 2023, Viola released 30 new product names. In total, the company's assortment has become more than 150 items.[1]

2022

Viola becomes the property of Velkom Group of Companies

The owner of the former Russian subsidiary Valio - Viola LLC since December 29, 2022 is Danir LLC, which belongs to the beneficiary of Velkom Group of Companies, one of the largest sausage producers in the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation.

Transfer of production in Russia to Velkom and renaming to Viola

On April 25, 2022, it became known that the Finnish concern Valio, specializing in dairy products, will sell Russian production to Velkom. The decision was made against the background of EU sanctions related to the special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

The parties agreed not to disclose the amount and terms of the deal, Valio said in a statement. Later, Valio LLC was renamed Viola LLC.

The deal will include a plant for the production of processed and semi-solid cheeses in Ershovo (Moscow region) and the rights to the brand of processed cheeses Viola, thus, the new business owner will be able to continue production under this brand and maintain a local assortment.

After changing the ownership structure, all employees will continue to work in the Velkom Group of Companies.

The Valio brand will remain in Russian stores until the packaging ends and the product expires. Velcom will be able to produce and sell products under brands that are not included in the deal during the transition period, which may last until the end of the year.

2017:120 products

By 2017, Valio in Russia presents an assortment of more than 120 products.

Under the Valio brand, the following are produced: milk, cream, cottage cheese, curd desserts, cottage cheese with jams, sour cream, butter, hard cheeses, as well as Valio Clean Label yogurts.

1994: Opening of the Finnish Valio Group division in Russia

Valio (LLC) is the Russian division of the Finnish concern Valio Group, a dairy producer in Finland, was founded in 1994 in St. Petersburg. He is the only importer of Valio products in Russia.

The company's activity is the production and sale of products manufactured at its only own plant in Russia and partner enterprises, as well as the import of baby food, non-dairy and lactose-free products from Finland.
