In the spring of 2016 Council of Skolkovo Foundation approved providing a grant in 150 million rubles on further development and promotion of domestic innovation medicine for treatment of sick HIV. Such decision was made at a meeting of Council of Fund in Moscow under the chairmanship of Victor Vekselberg and Craig Barrett.
The grant in 150 million rubles will be received by the resident of a biomedical cluster the Viriom company created based on the Center of high Himrar technologies. It is about the first Russian import-substituting medicine for treatment of HIV with a high potential of the international commercialization. Security and portability of medicine is confirmed with five clinical trials which proved also its high efficiency. Medicine is on the III phase of clinical trials which are conducted in 18 centers of prevention and fight against AIDS across all Russia.
Special attention was paid to projects of a cluster of biomedical technologies, in particular, to the new direction – biotechnology in agriculture and the industry. During the meeting Council Fonda charged to handle an issue of creation of the distributed genetic center.
