Separating a Company from Parallels
Virtuozzo separated from Parallels and became an independent company in 2016. This was preceded by the sale of Odin, owned by Parallels, to the IT distributor Ingram Micro. As part of that deal, Parallels retained that part of the Odin business, which was responsible for the development of the Plesk and Virtuozzo software platforms.
At this time, the company was led by Rob Lovell and other top managers, whose total experience in the field of cloud technology, networks and hosting is 70 years, the company said.
Product Development Plans
Virtuozzo introduced product development plans in the spring of 2016, and also optimized the practice of working with a sales channel. According to the company, Virtuozzo and its partners provide more than 5 million virtual environments with critical workloads. Thus, the company offers a proven, secure and functional virtual environment - an alternative to traditional virtual machines based on hypervisors.
So, as conceived by Virtuozzo, client-oriented product development at a dynamic pace will allow you to bring new offers and solutions to the market faster, for example, Virtuozzo 7 System Containers with the optimization of KVM, Virtuozzo Linux, ReadyKernel, Virtuozzo Automator and Virtuozzo Storage.
The company will also offer software-defined storage licensing models - Virtuozzo Storage - with aggressive pricing and simplified management.
At the same time, it is planned to expand the Channel Enablement Program, which will be supplemented by support for entering the market, as well as a training and certification system for partners; and even deeper integration of Virtuozzo with OpenVZ and other initiatives, including OpenStack and Open Container Initiative, to further develop standards and achieve new levels of flexibility in implementing solutions.
"As an independent company, we can better focus and meet our commitments by providing service providers and partners with more compact solutions that they can offer to their customers," said Rob Lovell, CEO of Virtuozzo. "Partners can expect our products to grow faster in containers, virtualization, and storage technologies."
