2023: Revenue growth by 9% to UAH 21.6 billion
In 2023, the telecommunications company Vodafone Ukraine"" received revenue in the amount of 21.6 billion hryvnia (approximately $591 million at the exchange rate as of the date of publication of the results). Net profit of Vodafone Ukraine in 2023 was at the level of 5.07 billion hryvnia ($139 million). For comparison: a year earlier, the company earned 1.1 billion hryvnia. Thus, on an annualized basis, the figure increased by about 4.6 times. The value of OIBDA (the company's profit from core activities before deduction for depreciation of fixed assets and depreciation of intangible assets) rose by 13% year on year - to 12.69 billion hryvnia ($347 million). In general, the improvement in results is due to the development of a fixed business, an increase in the volume of mobile Internet use and an increase in revenues from communication services.
Revenue growth of 9% is underpinned by a 17% increase in revenue from voice and data services thanks to the introduction of smart products and a change in tariff policy, the report said. |
The number of Vodafone Ukraine subscribers in 2023 amounted to approximately 15.9 million people. This is 3.2% more compared to 2022, when the operator served 15.4 million customers. At the same time, about 60% of the operator's subscribers used 4G services by the end of 2023. Vodafone Ukraine mobile networks 4G cover 85.4% of the country.
The company's capital expenditures in 2023 amounted to 5.66 billion hryvnia ($155 million). This is a quarter (by 26%) more compared to the previous year, when the corresponding figure was estimated at 3.59 billion hryvnia.[1]
2022:2% reduction in annual revenue
At the end of 2022, the Vodafone Ukraine operator received revenue in the amount of UAH 19.8 billion (approximately 44.13 billion rubles at the exchange rate as of April 12, 2023). It is reported that the net profit of the Ukrainian division of Vodafone in 2022 collapsed by about 71% - to UAH 1.1 billion (2.45 billion rubles). The decrease in the financial indicators of Vodafone Ukraine is primarily due to the outflow of subscribers in the current geopolitical situation. As of the end of 2022, the operator had 15.4 million customers. About 3.5 million subscribers of the Vodafone Ukraine operator left the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine. More than 2.2 million subscribers went abroad, but continue to use the services of the operator.
The company, as noted, provides in most tariffs a free connection to the "Available Roaming" service. As part of this service plan, 10 GB of mobile Internet traffic and 100 minutes are available for conversations with subscribers in Ukraine and the host country, subject to a paid Ukrainian package. The "Available roaming" offer is used by 87% of all customers staying in the roaming zone. In addition, as stated in the report, 71% of all Vodafone customers use data services, and the use of mobile Internet during 2022 increased 1.5 times. The operator continues to work on the development of 4G infrastructure. Vodafone Ukraine clarified that 88% of the network operates normally.[2]
