Volga district medical center of FBUZ POMTS FMBA of Russia

The Volga district medical center is created in Nizhny Novgorod by order of the Russian Ministry of Health of 10/17/2001 No. 375 as one of eight Russian centers of high-tech medical care to the population. FBUZ POMTS FMBA of Russia is multi-profile health facility which is a part of Federal Medical Biological Agency.

Types of medical care the rendered FBUZ POMTS of FMBA of Russia:

• primary health care;
• specialized, including hi-tech, medical care;
• fast, including fast specialized, medical care;
• palliative medical care.

The medical center carries out the tasks of rendering public services of medical and sanitary providing and health protection of employees of the organizations of separate industries assigned to it with especially dangerous working conditions and the population of certain territories, working conditions and on which accommodation are connected with influence of the specific adverse factors of the physical and chemical nature requiring special scientifically based treatment-and-prophylactic and rehabilitation events including the treatment-and-prophylactic help (primary, specialized, hi-tech medical services) and also on rendering specialized treatment-and-prophylactic medical care (rehabilitation, surgery, nephrology, etc.), including forces of mobile teams of quick response, in cases of emergencies.

Financing of accomplishment of the specified tasks, medical care of the assigned contingent of the population are performed within federal budget commitments. Besides, the Center provides to compulsory health insurance medical care not only to residents of Nizhny Novgorod, but also the Nizhny Novgorod Region according to the regional Program of the state guarantees.

The stated fundamental concept of activity of the Volga district medical center organically fits into a framework of the national project in the field of health care. In 2004 on the basis of the order of the Russian Ministry of Health and the Russian Academy of Medical Science to the center quotas for carrying out difficult and high cost transactions by the patient of the Volga Federal District were for the first time selected. Thus, patients with severe forms of diseases had a unique opportunity to receive hi-tech medical care at the expense of the state budget.
