"Volgograd the Arena" — the football stadium of the international class constructed in Volgograd to the FIFA World Cup of 2018. The arena is built on site the former Central stadium, on the bank of Volga at the bottom of Mamayev Kurgan.
Construction "Volgograd Arenas" was carried out in several steps.
In 2015 JSC Stroytransgaz executed the main actions of a preparatory stage of works, including dismantling and utilization of building constructions of the Central stadium and earlier existing engineering networks. A part of works of the main period of construction — the device of a ditch and base plate is implemented. Construction of load-carrying structures of stadium and laying of on-site engineering networks is begun.
In 2016 construction of monolithic constructions of stadium and stands with a total amount more than 120 thousand m ³ concrete is complete. In the building of the arena finishing works — formation of a power plate of a floor and construction of internal partitions began. Specialists of the general contractor started installation of the internal engineering systems. Builders began construction of a complex of separate buildings — entrance groups, booking and cash pavilions, the check point. The main amount of installation of metalwork of a facade is executed. Rolled steel for metalwork was delivered by Metalloinvest company.
The end of construction of stadium was planned for December, 2017. By March, 2018 the stadium still was not ready, FIFA representatives hoped that by May it will be put into operation. Putting into operation happened on April 3, 2018. The first match took place on April 21.
