The Volgograd Region is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation located in the south of the European part of Russia, between the Volga and Don rivers, in the lower reaches of these rivers on both sides, as well as north and south of the Volga-Don Canal. The administrative center is the hero city of Volgograd. The population is 2610.0 thousand people (urban - 75.2%, rural - 24.8%).
