Launch of a service for online transactions with non-ferrous metal scrap
A service has been launched on the Vtorion platform to conduct online transactions with non-ferrous metal scrap, including secondary aluminum and a copper group. The company announced this on December 11, 2024.
Non-ferrous metal processors can place advertisements for the sale of a batch in an online catalog and conduct a transaction in electronic format, agreeing on delivery conditions with the consumer plant inside personal accounts. Vtorion marketplace customers can buy or sell scrap copper, aluminum, lithium, bronze, lead and other metals.
Transparency is important in the secondary non-ferrous metal market. Plants that consume copper and aluminum strive for confidence in the reliability of counterparties and fulfillment of obligations. They are ready to purchase scrap directly from suppliers, bypassing intermediaries, in compliance with the deadlines and the full amount of payment. Digital platforms such as Vtorion contribute to these goals. As of December 2024, 750 thousand tons of ferrous scrap were sold through the marketplace. Now participants in the colored scrap market will be able to reduce costs and optimize their business thanks to e-commerce tools, "said Kirill Raichenko, head of Vtorion. |
Launch of the marketplace
In November 2024, it became known about the work of the Vtorion marketplace, designed for the trade in scrap of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Since the launch of the area, 745 thousand tons of scrap metal have already been sold through it for a total of more than ₽20 billion.
According to Kommersant, by December 2024, an increase in the annual turnover of the electronic platform to ₽15 billion is expected. The platform brings together 350 large scrap miners and metallurgical enterprises of the country, including NLMK Group. According to industry experts, a third of steel in Russia is produced from secondary raw materials, and the annual volume of the scrap market is estimated at ₽1 trillion.
Kirill Raichenko, head of the Vtorion recyclable materials marketplace, noted that the complete transfer of regular purchases of raw materials by metallurgical companies to the marketplace will free up more than ₽4 billion for further development of the industry.
According to Data Insight, b2b sales through online platforms in Russia will reach ₽3,5 trillion in 2024, more than twice the 2021 figure of ₽1,5 trillion. Digitalization of the industry reduces the duration of transactions by an average of seven days compared to the traditional way of doing business.
Automation of processes through the marketplace provides market participants with savings of ₽60 million per year with a platform turnover of ₽15 billion, taking into account the base rate of borrowed funds of 21% per annum. The platform functionality allows you to systematize proposals, automate document flow and speed up settlements between counterparties.[1]
