In mid-August 2021 the Dutch telecommunication , a Southeast company United Group To Europe signed an agreement with Crystal Almond Holdings Limited to acquire Wind Hellas, one of the three main telecom operators. Greece
By August 2021, Wind Hellas has a total of 4.2 million customers and offers Internet, television, mobile and fixed-line services. The company's annual revenue exceeds 500 million euros. The deal will allow the United Group to merge Wind Hellas with its own Greek pay television provider Nova and thereby create a new strong market player in both broadband Internet access and television services.
The acquisition of local telecommunications and media companies with subsequent integration into our platform is a key element of United Group's European growth strategy. Greece is our main market, and thanks to the acquisition of Wind Hellas, we will be able to create a leading converged operator and contribute to the development of the telecommunications sector of Greece through investments in network infrastructure, content, technology and innovative products and services, "said Nikos Statopoulos, Chairman of the United Group. |
According to United Group, the deal should be approved by regulators and is expected to be completed in 2022. United Group noted that in such an attractive market with significant growth potential, Wind-Nova combined company will be able to provide converged offers, new technologies and excellent service, improving the quality of services for Greek consumers.
Nova previously signed a wholesale deal with Vodafone Greece, a rival to Wind Hellas, but the United Group subsequently said wholesale prices would not allow the company to develop effectively in the market.[1]
