The warehouse management system FOLIO WMS allows to automate processes of acceptance, placement, storage, processing and shipment of goods in warehouses of safe custody, warehouse terminals, industrial and trade warehouses of distribution centers, warehouses of distribution (3PL).
The automation system of management of a warehouse helps to optimize placement of goods for storage so that warehouse spaces and employees were used most effectively. A WMS system can manage operation of the warehouse equipment and personnel, to control cargo transfer and the loading equipment across the territory of a warehouse, to quickly plan tasks to personnel taking into account the current situation.
For obtaining maximum efficiency from implementation of WMS it is desirable to use the hi-tech warehouse equipment (multilevel racks, pilers, loaders, pipeline lines, containers) and the modern radio equipment (radio terminals, scanners of barcodes, portable computers) with an opportunity to identify loads of different types of a complete set and packing (pallet, boxed, piece). A system supports cross docking implementation - acceptance and sending goods directly in a warehouse actually without placement it in the storage area, using overload component parts of platforms.
As basic elements of WMS - the FOLIO system includes support: address storage (a mesh warehouse), zoning of warehouse (a warehouse zone), optimization of placement, shipment and movement of goods depending on characteristics of storage locations and properties of goods, technologies of barcoding, a mobile equipment and remote control by personnel.
The problem of a system includes management of all technology process of warehousing - from waiting of goods acceptance prior to their order delivery of clients.
At the same time, proceeding from real needs of the customer, the implementation scope can vary from initial level (management on the basis of paper sheets tasks) to a full-function warehouse management system in real time, using technologies of barcoding, the radio equipment, the system of positioning of the warehouse equipment and other automation equipment.
Printing of labels of new goods using the radio terminal
For operational printing of labels in receptive period of the new, for the first time arrived goods, the printability of labels of these goods directly is provided now in receptive period. For this purpose from the radio terminal using which acceptance of goods is conducted, the task for printing of barcodes for new goods on any printer selected for printing is transferred. The code of a barcode is entered by the operator on the radio terminal or automatically generated by the program at its absence.
Initial inventory - a new feature of FOLIO of WMS
In addition to the inventory methods which are available in FOLIO of several WMS using the radio terminal, the new method - initial inventory appeared. The purpose of such inventory - fixing of placement of goods in cells at the time of the organization of a warehouse, i.e. prior to any movement in a warehouse.
Data entry, necessary for inventory, is performed using the scanner of the radio terminal or the screen keyboard. Each of the entered barcodes (cells and goods) or the article of goods is checked by the server for availability of information on them.
Upon termination of inventory data go to the server where will automatically be transformed to the document on moving to the specified cells. After confirmation of results of inventory by the operator, data on inventory are registered in the database.
Let's remind that until now inventory was carried out on the instructions of the operator and aimed not only to define the actual remaining balance in cells, but also to set mismatch of the available data on a current status of a warehouse. The method of accomplishment of inventory formed the operator according to the following possible scenarios when it is inventoried: one goods; group of goods or all goods; one cell; structure of cells or all cells; blank cells and goods with a zero balance; non-blank cells and goods with a nonzero remaining balance.
The inventory method on the instructions of the operator is still available in a system.
Palletizing using radio terminals in FOLIO of WMS
In addition to the available functions of fixing of the coming goods on pallets, the feature for the automatic layout on pallets according to the task which arrived on the radio terminal is added. WMS - the program "knows" about the available blank pallets (containers) and sends a task for its filling for the radio terminal. When filling the barcode of a pallet and a barcode of the filled goods is used. Using the radio terminal identification of correctness of palletizing is carried out. Similar function is made also for contents supervision a pallet using radio terminals.
