2022: Loss - $1 billion
Losses "Naftogaz of Ukraine" at the end of 2022 exceeded $1 billion (about 40 billion hryvnia). The head of the company, Alexei Chernyshov, announced this in early March 2023.
According to him, by March 2023, Naftogaz is not in default. Chernyshov associates losses with the company's fulfillment of obligations to supply gas to consumers in Ukraine, including utilities, state employees, entrepreneurs. Prices for these supplies are regulated by the state. According to Chernyshov, the government's debts to Naftogaz are accumulating.
As Alexey Chernyshov explained, the main receivables to Naftogaz Ukrainy are divided into three components:
- difference in tariffs (UAH 36 billion or $975 million),
- debt of regional gas and gas sales (UAH 76 billion or $2 billion),
- special obligations for 2022-2023 (UAH 158 billion or $4.3 billion).

On February 14, 2023, Bloomberg reported that a group of creditors rejected the offer of the Ukrainian state-owned company Naftogaz to restructure the debt, as it believes that the company is capable of making payments. The rejection came after consultation with analysts Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. According to the source of the agency, creditors came to the conclusion that the company is capable of making payments.
This group of creditors has enough influence to prevent Naftogaz from getting the support of 75% of the creditors needed to approve the restructuring, the publication noted.
For its part, Naftogaz sent a request for comment to Lazard Frères SAS, which the company hired to help restructure the debt.[1]
2024: IT shutdown after massive cyber attack on data center
On January 25, 2024, Naftogaz Ukrainy Corporation announced a hacker attack on its IT infrastructure. The holding was forced to turn off some of the services.

The failure was also recorded in the Ukrainian information system "Shlyakh," which is used for the work of the border service, representatives of "Ukrtranssecurity" said on Facebook. The official website of Ukrtransbassafety is also unavailable. The reasons for the failure in the organizations did not specify.
As of 13:00 Moscow time on January 26, 2024, Naftogaz did not make a statement about the restoration of its IT systems.
At the same time, it is reported that the server of the Gas Supply Company Naftogaz of Ukraine was subjected to a hacker attack. Moreover, the cyber attack on the company was recorded the next day as Kyiv announced its unwillingness to extend the transit of Russian gas. The contract between Gazprom and Naftogaz expires at the end of 2024. On January 12, 2024, a Russian court satisfied Gazprom's claim against Naftogaz Ukrainy to ban the decision of the arbitration court. The court also ruled in case of non-fulfillment of the ban to recover $150 million from Naftogaz in favor of Gazprom.
Moreover cyber attacks , not only Naftogaz suffered from the end of January 2024. Plan to abandon the transit of Russian gas at the end of 2024
Ukraine will not renew the agreement on the transit of Russian gas to Europe, which expires at the end of 2024. This was announced on October 29, 2023 by the head of Naftogaz Alexei Chernyshov.

2021: Complaint against Gazprom to the European Commission

2020: Forecast loss to $220m
