Forrester called market leaders of BPMS

Forrester published data of the next report of Forrester Wave for BPMS solutions. Market leaders call Pegasystems, Applain and IBM. According to analysts, crisis enhanced demand for solutions of this class, and this trend will remain long.

While the global processes of economy which received the name of "world recession" continue to have negative effect on revenues of many software vendors, developers of BPMS solutions, on the contrary, note gain of interest in the software products. It is said in the next report of Forrester on a status of the world market of BPMS.

At the same time the vertical markets, the most significantly injured in crisis (for example, finance and insurance), have the strongest interest in implementing solutions of this class. This driver will become the basic for growth of the market of BPMS for several next years, analysts of Forrester consider.

The world market of BPM endured several waves of consolidation, the foundation which it was laid in 2002 by purchase of IBM of the supplier of the solution of modeling of processes Holosofx. During the period from 2004 to 2008 a series of significant acquisitions was made by Oracle, Software AG and Tibco Software. Unfortunately, most of clients as a result of these absorption received badly managed hybrid software environment, and let these shortcomings know about themselves still. The last takeover wave began in 2009 with purchase of Software AG of IDS Scheer company.

During the research Forrester traditionally selected 11 largest vendors of BPM systems and carried out the assessment of the solutions proposed by them. This research did not include the solution Tibco Software as vendor withdrew active sales of the solution iProcess BPM Suite, having replaced with ActiveMatrix BPM which was released after carrying out a research. Selection terms of the largest vendors: at least turnover of $30 million in 2008 or broad representation in the geographical and vertical markets, a full support of all lifecycle of BPM, support of development on Java and .Net and also product availability as of May 1, 2010.

Carried Pegasystems, Applian and IBM and also Software AG, Metastorm, Savvion (Progress Software), Lombardi to number of leaders of Forrester (IBM in December, 2009 is purchased). At the same time, according to analysts, Pegasystems and Applain are leaders in completeness of functionality and a usability. IBM and Software AG have big market share at the expense of strong integration solutions and excellently developed opportunities for joint work. The following three, Metastorm, Savvion and Lombardi managed to find successful balance between IT opportunities and business needs. On border of a zone of leaders there are Oracle and Global 360, they provide the quite good products having the strengths

Separately gave to vendors of Forrester the following characteristics. Applian proposes the strong full-function solution with strong orientation to the SaaS model. IBM became the leader because could overcome a gap between application developers and implementers of processes. Having purchased Lombardi, the company is going to position WebSphere Process Server as the BPM platform with high scalability, and Lombardi – as the solution giving fast effect. The solution of Software AG is selected with comprehensive storage of processes.

Metastorm increases the value of the product at the expense of web models and means of joint work. Savvion, in January, 2010 purchased successfully added a line of the company. A successful environment gives to Oracle for developers plus new opportunities for the process analysis. Global 360 – support of processes of SharePoint. HandySoft selects expansion of a dynamic environment of BPM at the expense of special reports and mashap. Fujitsu gives search capabilities for commands of the hidden technical requirements.
