The venture division of SAP will invest $10 million in DeviceVM company, the developer of the mobile platform Splashtop, said in the official statement of the company.
Software from DeviceVM is often preset on notebooks of the leading vendors. The company also works at the market of other devices in addition to the PC. In particular, now it works on support of the MeeGo operating system developed by Intel and Nokia Corporation it could be used on smartphones, "tablets", TV and other devices.
The Splashtop platform based on Linux works parallel to basic operation system of the device and a number of the applications including based on Firefox the browser, a musical player, the photo editor, a chat and Skype includes.
Besides there is also a business version of the platform which also maintains functionality of Microsoft Office, integration about Microsoft Outlook and some tasks of security, though does not allow to start Microsoft Windows.
DeviceVM is going to spend the funds for development of new type of mobile devices received from SAP for business which will allow IT services to use and support more actively them taking into account existing the politician, including security policies, Mark Lee told CEO DeviceVM.
This initiative means further promotion in implementation of mobile strategy which was given considerable acceleration by Sybase company takeover for SAP. According to industry analysts, for investments of this sort now the most optimal time.

For example, Microsoft last year created a scandal with "tablets", and since then there is no such company which would not separate mobile dreams of Sun, Oracle and web TV", - the analyst of Redmonk Michael Cote said.
Investments into DeviceVM bring SAP to the market of communications between devices, the analyst of Altimeter Group Ray Wang said. "Having high degree of adaptability, DeviceVM will shortly play a key role in management and security of corporate requests", he commented.
