2025: Appointment as Director of the Center for the Development of Artificial Intelligence under the Government of Russia
On August 8, 2025, it became known that the Center for the Development of Artificial Intelligence (IDR) under the Government of Russia was headed by Ildar Akhmetov. He previously worked in the project management department of the think tank.
The decree on the creation of the IDR was signed in June 2025. The work of this structure is supervised by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - Chief of Staff Dmitry Grigorenko. According to him, the tasks of the center, in particular, include market analysis and the selection of effective AI solutions for replication. Some of them will be launched at the federal level in the form of standard services to which regions and departments can connect. Regional projects in the field of AI are also developing. Thus, in the Republic of Tatarstan with the use of AI, monitoring of the implementation of national programs was implemented. In the Sakhalin region, AI is systematically introduced into each sphere of public administration - from medicine and education to the development of tourism and environmental monitoring. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, AI solutions are actively integrated into key areas: these are, in particular, video analytics tools that monitor public transport, law and order and security, as well as housing and communal services. AI solutions in the field of health are being created in Moscow.[1]
