Biography
2000-2023
Solovyov graduated from the Law Faculty of St. Petersburg State University and St. Petersburg State Maritime Technical University with a degree in Economics and Management at a Mechanical Engineering Enterprise. He has been working in the shipbuilding industry since 2000, when he headed the legal department of the Vyborg Shipbuilding Plant (VSZ). From 2005 to 2006, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of VSZ, and in 2012 he was appointed First Deputy General Director of VSZ. From June 2012 to January 2023 he was the general director of this enterprise. In 2023, he was appointed head of the Otradnoye and Neva-Stapel shipyards.
2026: Appointment as General Director of Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant
On January 13, 2026, Alexander Solovyov was appointed to the post of General Director of the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant. In this position, he replaced Vladimir Mayzus, who plans to stay at the enterprise in one of the leading positions.
Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant is located on the shore of Lake Onega in the city of Petrozavodsk. The company was founded in 2002 on the basis of modernized ship repair facilities of the White Sea-Onega Shipping Company, created in 1944. The plant has its own engineering services, design and technological department and all the main and auxiliary production necessary for shipbuilding. The company's website says that its staff includes about 500 employees.
According to RBC, in 2025, the first digital shipyard in Russia was commissioned at the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant. The new workshops are designed for the construction of dry cargo ships, including mixed river-sea type, technical fleet vessels and tugboats, including ice class vessels.[1]
